Between Storms
Between Storms
This morning Am and I took a quick trip up to Incline Village, Lake Tahoe, to check out the snow between storms. Facebook had been reporting that Tahoe had 12+ feet of snow, and we were expecting massive walls of snow. Reality didn’t exactly meet Facebook’s promise; there was perhaps 4-7 feet of snow depending on elevation. Impressive but far from record breaking. Still, it was a fun trip, and snowy Tahoe always makes for interesting photos!
We were surprised by how much snow we saw on rooftops. Several homes had people on top, frantically working to remove snow as the next storm moved in. My favorite scene was a team of guys, hired to clear a flat roofed home. Why anyone would build a flat roof in a snowy location is beyond me.
Several homes had the appearance of having had no visitors all winter, with driveways that had disappeared into the landscape.
Before we headed out of town, we stopped by the IVGID beach to check out the snowy shoreline. It was super windy as the storm moved in but it made for some great shots. The pier with icicles suspended above crashing Tahoe waves made braving the elements worth it.
Overall it was a great morning. We’re so thankful for a good, wet winter (despite the shorter than reported walls of snow! ) and luckily it shows no signs of letting up Hope whoever reads this enjoys the photos!
