Photo No. 3 - Carson City Windmill
There’s a windmill in the middle of Carson City that we’ve been driving past for years. I’ve always thought it would be great for photos, but we always seem to be on a mission when we come upon it, or I haven’t had my camera on me at the time. Construction on a new housing development has begun across the street, acting as a reminder that the scene won’t be available forever…
What do I like about this photo
The windmill stands out as a clear subject, with the leading lines of both the fence and clouds acting as supporting subjects. I also like the contrast of the green grass against the orange/red colors of the windmill and the structure off to the right.
What do I dislike about this photo
I’m not sure if I got the edit right again… I used a previous photo that I edited as a reference, and think it helped, but it just feels a little off.
What could I do to improve upon this photo
I needed to walk away from the photo to allow myself the opportunity to review the edit with fresh eyes.
I suspect that the photo may have been more interesting if the perspective was from a lower view, so as to make the windmill appear larger than it really is.
The photo looks overexposed on the website when compared to Lightroom, and is probably overexposed in lightroom as well. I should reduce the brightness by something like .1 stops.
