I hadn't come to the Pismo Beach Pier that day to shot long exposures, though I'm so glad I did!

Black Glass.  A filter that would make a city street appear empty of life, and violent oceans as a placid lake.  I had coveted the 10 stop, seemingly black filter for over a year at this point and I finally had an excuse to buy one.

A partial solar eclipse was scheduled to pass directly over Lake Tahoe, and I was determined to prepare to photograph the sun itself!  This photo was taken the evening after I had first received my 16 stop filter in the mail, in preparation for the event.

For this shot I used the Cannon 70-200 IS II Lens set to 70mm, an exposure time of 30 seconds at f2.8 and, probably because I forgot to change it, ISO set to 400.
